About Limi Children's Hospital

A hospital only for newborns, children and teenagers, at 39 Adetokunbo Ademola Street in Wuse 2, Abuja. We are part of The Limi Hospitals, which has cared for Nigerian families since 1982.

Who We Are

Children are not small adults. Their bodies, their illnesses, the way they tell you something is wrong and the way they cope with hospital are all different. A children's hospital is built around those differences.

Limi Children's Hospital cares for babies from birth, children and teenagers: everyday illness and check-ups, specialist clinics, surgery, development and therapy, inpatient care, and newborn and paediatric intensive care, across more than 30 specialties. Doctors, nurses, therapists, pharmacists, laboratory and imaging staff, and the people at the front desk work only for children and their families.

We also teach. The hospital hosts the Abuja Perinatal Symposium and monthly practice updates for doctors, nurses and midwives, so the professionals across Nigeria who first see a sick baby or child know how to recognise the illness, stabilise the child and when to refer.

Our Purpose

Happy people facilitating happy families through a great healthcare experience for children.

In practice, you leave knowing what is wrong, what is being done and what happens next. Explaining it until it makes sense to you is part of the team's job.

Our Promise to Parents

Specialist child care, clearly explained and coordinated around your family.

How Care Is Organised

Every level of care is in the same hospital. A child steps up to intensive care, or down to the ward, without changing hospital.

  1. Everyday care. General paediatrics, well-child checks, immunisation, growth, nutrition, dentistry and adolescent health. The place to start. Everyday care.
  2. Specialist clinics and tests. Heart, kidneys, nervous system, blood, hormones, lungs, ear nose and throat, digestion and skin, with a 24-hour laboratory and imaging. Specialist clinics.
  3. Development and therapy. Speech, learning, movement and behaviour, including autism assessment, speech therapy and physiotherapy. Development.
  4. Surgery. Planned and emergency operations for children, including urology and orthopaedics. Children's surgery.
  5. Emergency and inpatient care. Emergency assessment day and night, and children's wards. Emergency and intensive care.
  6. Intensive care. A neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for newborns, and a paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) for older babies and children. Newborn care and the NICU.

Our Values, and What They Look Like on a Ward

These are our values, written as things you can see us do. If you do not see them, tell us.

Excellence

We check before we act and check again after. Children's medicines are worked out for their weight, and you can always ask us to go through a dose with you. When something goes wrong or nearly goes wrong, we look at why and change how we work. We keep learning, and we teach others what we learn.

Empathy

We listen to the whole story before deciding. We explain what we know and what we do not know yet. We treat parents' worries as information, not fuss, and we remember that a child in pain or afraid needs comfort as much as treatment.

Children-Centred

We speak to children, not only about them. We use equipment sized for children, plan procedures to cause as little pain and fear as we can, keep a parent close whenever it is safe, and give teenagers a say in their own care.

System-Based

Care should not depend on one person remembering. Clinics, wards, the laboratory, pharmacy and specialists work together around your child, so you tell your child's story once. If you find yourself repeating it, tell us. Referring doctors get a report back.

Facts You Can Check

No slogans. These are facts you can verify for yourself.

Part of The Limi Hospitals

The Limi Hospitals began in Zaria in 1982. Today the group includes three hospitals, each with its own focus, working together when a family's needs cross between them.

Group vision: To build a national healthcare ecosystem that empowers people and communities.

Group mission: Healthy and happy families through a great healthcare system.

Teaching and Learning

The first hour of a sick newborn's life often happens far from a children's hospital. What the midwife, nurse or doctor in that room does matters as much as anything we do later. So we teach.

  • The Abuja Perinatal Symposium, hosted by the hospital each year, brings together paediatricians, neonatologists, obstetricians, nurses, midwives and trainees: more than 300 professionals at the 2025 edition.
  • Limi Paediatric Practice Updates are monthly online sessions on everyday child health problems for professionals across Nigeria.
  • This parent library of guides, tools and checklists is free to read, print and share.

The People Behind the Care

Nurses, doctors, pharmacists, laboratory scientists, therapists and the front desk team. We do not publish individual profiles; every child is cared for by a team.

Privacy and Your Child's Information

Your child's health records, photographs and development notes are some of the most sensitive information a family has. We handle them under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Here is what that means.

What We Collect, and Why

We collect what we need to care for your child safely: their name, date of birth and contact details; their health history, examinations, test results, scans and treatment; and your HMO or payment details. We use it to care for your child, to arrange payment with you or your plan, and to meet the law. We do not sell it.

The Rules We Follow

  • We ask first. We ask a parent or guardian before any photograph, video or audio recording of a child, and before sharing your child's details with anyone who is not involved in their care. You can say no, and it will not change your child's care.
  • Only what is needed. We collect and share the minimum information needed for the purpose, and no more.
  • Access by role. Staff can see your child's record only as far as their job in your child's care needs.
  • No patient images in marketing without documented consent. We never use a photograph or story of a child on our website, social media or posters unless a parent or guardian has given written consent for that specific use. Consent can be withdrawn.
  • Sharing for care. With your knowledge, we share what is needed with the doctor who referred your child, with a hospital your child is transferred to, with your HMO or NHIA to process a claim, and where the law requires it, such as reporting certain diseases to public health authorities.

What You Can Ask

You can ask what information we hold about your child and to see it, ask us to correct anything that is wrong, ask how it has been shared, and withdraw consent you have given for photographs or other optional uses. To ask, speak to the front desk or call 0813 408 5400. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Messages, WhatsApp and This Website

The WhatsApp buttons on this website share a page with someone you choose. They do not send anything to the hospital. Do not send photographs or details of your child's illness to the hospital through social media messages. The booking calendar collects only what is needed to arrange an appointment.

The Parent Library Is Not a Consultation

Our guides, tools and checklists explain and prepare. They are educational and do not replace an examination by a clinician who can see your child. If you are worried about your child, have them seen.

See It for Yourself: Book a Visit or Call the Hospital.

If your child is seriously unwell, do not book and do not wait for a message reply. Come to Limi Children's Hospital now, day or night, or go to the nearest emergency department if you cannot get here quickly. Have someone else drive if you can, so you can watch your child, and call 0813 408 5400 on the way so the team can prepare. See the signs that mean go now.
